I've been quite fascinated with The Great Gatsby since the movie recently came out. I love that period of time, with it's fashion, cars, booming economy, etc. Lance knew I loved it,and the story so he decided to give me a night at The Plaza Hotel for Mother's Day this year. The climatic scene in the movie was filmed at the hotel and last month was Gatsby month there.
He was quite clever in the way he presented his gift and I don't want to forget how he did it. I was on my way to Target to run some errands and he said he needed to go as well to get my Mother's Day present. I was intrigued as generally Target gifts are reserved for stockings, don't get me wrong I love Target, but it was out of the norm for Lance to get a main gift from there. So, after we get home from Target he decided my gift to me right away, he can barely contain himself when he has a gift for me and I often get my gifts a few days early from the occasion (love that about him. Anyway, he proceeded to hand me the novel and the soundtrack to the movie. I was thinking, "hmmmm, interesting choice this year honey", then he hands me a piece of printer paper with our reservation to the hotel. Wow, I felt so loved and appreciated as a mother in that moment. He had put so much thought into a themed gift and outdid himself as usual. It was like a dream staying at the hotel, and a memory I will always cherish as I'm sure I won't get many nights there in my life!
And, the best part is we saw the movie in 3-D right in the heart of Midtown.
